Race Day Information

You may pick up your race packet on Friday, September 28th from 4 - 7pm at Hands-on House or Saturday, September 29th (race day) from 6:30 - 7:30am. We have disposable CHIP TIMING for this event from 2L Race Services. When you pick up your race packet, you will receive your disposable chip.

Runners may still register the morning of the race from 6:30 - 7:30am. Race day registration is $75 for the half marathon, $50 for the 10K, and $35 for the 5K. All runners and walkers are welcome.

All volunteers are asked to check in at the registration tent and pick up your volunteer assignment and shirt. All volunteers will be wearing a Hands-on House Volunteer shirt.

The race will be timed by 2L Race Services using a disposable Chip Timing System. Why disposable chips? Utilizing timing chips on your race bib and overhead antennas that read the chip, participants do not need to attach chips on their shoes. Simply wear your bib as instructed, and run through the finish arch. As you cross the finish line, look up at the large screen display with the race clock and your name! There is no need to remove the chip from your bib.

Runners and walkers will be called to the start line at 7:50am, with the race officially starting at 8:00am.10K and 5K runners will line up at the start line behind the half marathon runners. After the half marathon starts, the 10K will start and then the 5K.

All race courses will be well-marked with signs. The half marathon course will have mileage markers and the 10K and 5K courses will have kilometer markers. Please take note and support the generous sponsors of our race.

For the half marathon, drink stations will be close to mileage markers 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 and at the end. Water and diluted energy drink will be available at each station. The cups at the beginning of each station will have water and the cups at the end of the tables will have energy drink. For the 10K and 5K, a drink station will be close to the 3 kilometers marker. Water and diluted energy drink will be available. The cups at the beginning of the table will have water and the cups at the end of the table will have energy drink.

There will be plenty of portable toilets by the registration area and in two different locations located along the course, one on Keen Rd, just before John Landis Rd, and the second near the intersection of Millport Rd and Warwick Rd.

There will be a variety of goodies and drinks available for all runners after the race, including fitness drink, water bottles, fresh fruit, bagels and spreads. These treats will be located at the finish food tent. Medical personnel will be available post-race to take care of minor injuries such as blisters, etc.

Hands-on House Children's Museum will be open on Saturday, September 29th from 8:30am - 5:00pm. Children of participating runners will receive free admission to the museum on race day. Free admission coupons will be available at race registration and packet pick-up on both Friday evening 9/28 and Saturday morning 9/29. All other admission is $9.50 per person.

Race Rules and Regulations

  • Entry fees are non-refundable.
  • No-shows will not be mailed their race shirts or bags.
  • Half marathon runners must complete the course in 3 hours; walkers must complete the course in 4 hours.
  • Headphones (iPods, mp3 players, CDs, tape walkmans, radios, etc) are discouraged.
  • Roller/in-line skates, pets, etc are prohibited.
  • The decisions of the race director are final in all matters.
  • Cash awards are based on gun time not chip time. Chip time is recorded by an electronic chip that is attached to a runner's bib. Your chip records the time at which you cross the start line, the finish line and several split times in between. Chip time is often shorter than gun time because chip time begins when a runner crosses the start line while gun time starts when the gun is fired; many runners don't cross the start line until several minutes after their official gun time has begun.
  • Runners must be registered for the event that they win/place for cash.
  • Walker etiquette: Runners will approach walkers quickly. Please be courteous; move over to the sides of the roads when runners approach and let them have the right of way and quickest way past. There is a large field of elite runners who are competing for prize money.
